Is the Stock Market Open on Juneteenth?
No — U.S. stock markets are closed on Juneteenth.
Juneteenth 2026: Friday, June 19, 2026
U.S. stock markets are closed for Juneteenth National Independence Day (June 19). It became a federal holiday in 2021, and the NYSE and Nasdaq began observing it in 2022 — making it the newest holiday on the market calendar.
It was the first holiday added to the exchange calendar since Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1998. When June 19 falls on a Saturday the market closes the Friday before, and when it falls on a Sunday the closure moves to Monday, June 20.
The U.S. bond market is also closed, per SIFMA's recommended holiday schedule.
